Is this the Captain’s bridge – or the vicar’s?

The story of how the railway eventually came to the centre of Camberley will have to be told another day but here is the narrow bridge and road that takes Middleton Road over the line.  I am not sure who actually paid for it – was it the original railway backers or the wealthy and generous vicar that the road is named after?

Looking over the parapet (quickly, I didn’t think it was a good spot to linger!) I was astonished how undeveloped the town looked……..
