A part of Camberley’s history is missing……

This innocuous piece of fence between two houses is all that remains of the entrance to Hoskin the builder’s yard in Watchetts Road.  As you can see in the distance, new houses have been built on the site and they have an entrance off Park Road, via what appears to be just the entrance to a block of flats.  The builder’s name though lives on in the little cup-de-sac’s name.

Next week I will be publishing some photos of the yard as it was in 2012, just before demolition of the last remaining buildings took place.

  1. In fact in the postwar years there were two builders yards in Watchett’s road, one either side of the Gordon Laundry. The other was Rideout Bros.

  2. Which was on the North side, further West then Hoskins, but maybe not! Can’t always be too sure after 60 years!
