Ah…..Hospitable Edwardian Camberley …….

London Road Aug 1

Quite a contrast with yesterday’s modern office block (but you can see that the weather was not on my side!).

As you may be able to make out, this is the Camberley Guest House.  I was hoping to be able to add a link to their website, but couldn’t find one, or even a mention of the business that was recent.  Does anyone know if it is still running?  I think it was the for sale at one point?

Not surprisingly, this area of Camberley (originally known as Mud Town) was the first to be developed after the Cambridge Hotel opened in 1862.  I would imagine that these highly decorative ‘High Edwardian’ homes date from the 1890s?
