Heatherside’s Wellingtonia avenue

IMG_1180

Yesterday’s mysterious Yeti was, in fact, a close up of the bark on a Wellingtonia tree.  A magnificent avenue of them was planted in the mid 19th century on the outskirts of Camberley and the modern estate of Heatherside was built around them – still allowing for the public to walk between them.  This photo doesn’t show the whole length which is surprisingly long and surrounded by playing fields in the middle.
